Statement by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Français
GATINEAU, QC, March 15, 2017 /CNW/ - "I encourage the Société de transport de l'Outaouais and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 591, to review their positions on issues that remain unresolved and continue their discussions at the negotiating table in order to reach an agreement and avoid any further disruption of service. Many families in the Gatineau-Ottawa region rely on public transit for work, school, childcare, and other responsibilities, and we thank them for their patience.
Respect for, and faith in, the collective bargaining process has always guided our government's approach to labour relations. Federal mediators from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) have been assisting the parties in their negotiations. I have been closely monitoring the situation through the FMCS and will continue to do so."
