Statement by the Mayor of Montréal about the nuclear test in North Korea
MONTRÉAL, Sept. 9, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal, responded this morning to the announcement of the nuclear test in North Korea:
"The world has learned with dismay that North Korea has carried out yet another nuclear test.
As a member of the Executive Committee of Mayors for Peace, I join my voice with that of the Mayor of Hiroshima and President of the Association, Mr. Kazumi Matsui, and those of 7,100 other mayors, to condemn in the strongest possible manner this nuclear test which is a real provocation to the international community.
This gesture represents a threat to global security, and goes against initiatives for nuclear disarmament and the hopes of all peoples for a world of peace, without nuclear weapons."
