Statement by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Shelly Glover, on the Nominations for the 86th Academy Awards Français
OTTAWA, Jan. 16, 2014 /CNW/ - I was thrilled to learn today that talented Canadians have been nominated for Academy Awards. Canadian artists and creators are extraordinary ambassadors of our identity and culture as they continue to shine on the world stage.
I would like to congratulate all the Canadians who received a nomination, including:
Achievement in Film Editing:
Martin Pensa for Dallas Buyers Club
Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score):
Owen Pallett and Arcade Fire member William Butler for Her
I would also like to congratulate Canadians Jean-Marc Vallée, the director of Dallas Buyers Club, which earned several key nominations including Best Picture, and Denis Villeneuve, whose film Prisoners received a nomination for Best Cinematography.
On a personal note, I look forward to hosting the presentation of Gabrielle on February 25 at the National Arts Centre.
