Statement by the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour and the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Français
GATINEAU, QC, Sept. 19, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Today the Honourable MaryAnn Mihychuk, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour and the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship made the following statement:
"Today, the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (HUMA) tabled a report outlining its recommendations to improve the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
This past spring, the Standing Committee invited various stakeholders, including industry representatives, unions, employers and individuals to be witnesses during its review of the Program. The Standing Committee also received over 60 written submissions from stakeholders and heard from senior officials at Employment and Social Development Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
We would like to thank the Standing Committee and witnesses for their hard work and input. We look forward to reviewing the report and will respond within the legislated timeframe of 120 days."
