OTTAWA, Feb. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the Vietnamese New Year:
"This week, Vietnamese communities in Canada and around the world will celebrate Tết Nguyên Đán, the Lunar New Year.
"Tết is a time to give thanks for the successes of the past year and look forward with optimism to the arrival of spring. Friends and family will join together to welcome the Year of the Dog, share a special meal, and wish each other prosperity and good luck for the year to come.
"In Canada, Tết is also a chance to celebrate the contributions of the Vietnamese Canadian community. For generations, Vietnamese Canadians have helped make our country stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous. As we move forward together in 2018, let's continue to celebrate everything that unites us, and the diversity that makes us strong.
"On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish peace, prosperity, and good health to all those celebrating Tết.
"Chúc mừng năm mới."
