Statement by the Royal Canadian Mint

OTTAWA, April 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Mr. Ian E. Bennett, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint, has issued the following statement:

The Royal Canadian Mint was saddened to learn of the sudden passing of former Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.  We offer our deepest condolences to his wife Christine, his sons, family members, friends and staff.  As the former Minister responsible for the Royal Canadian Mint, we had the pleasure and privilege of marking many significant Canadian milestones with Minister Flaherty.  Part of his legacy will now live on in the many coins to which he gave sanction during his tenure as our Minister.
