Statement from Canadian Medical Association on passing of Dr. Donald Low, a leading figure in Canada's response to SARS Français
OTTAWA, Sept. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association wishes to convey its sadness following the death of Dr. Donald Low, who helped lead Canada's response to the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in the Toronto area in 2003.
Dr. Low was the face of medicine's response to SARS during the outbreak, which claimed 44 lives in Canada.
He also worked closely with the CMA to provide Canada's doctors with the latest clinical information on the diagnosis and treatment of SARS via an online interactive discussion forum on the CMA's website.
Dr. Low served his colleagues — and all Canadians — well, and his leadership, vision and guidance will be missed.
