Statement from Deputy Chief Matt Pegg, President, Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
AJAX, ON, Jan. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Earlier today, there was a multiple-fatality fire in a multi-unit residence for seniors in L'Isle-Verte, Quebec. The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) expresses our sincere condolences to the friends and family of everyone affected by this tragic event. In addition we want to acknowledge the hard work of all emergency services personnel who responded to the incident and worked under such difficult conditions.
Unfortunately, tragedies like these highlight the importance of fire safety and fire prevention for our most vulnerable citizens, and demonstrate the significance and importance of the vulnerable occupancy regulatory changes that were recently announced by the Ontario Government.
