TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, issued the following statement today:
"Stories have the ability to transport you to another place, to see the world from someone else's perspective, and to ignite the passion for change. This December, I encourage everyone to snuggle up with their little ones with books by inspiring Canadian Indigenous authors. Through their stories we can learn more about First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures and history. All Canadians can play a part in reconciliation this holiday season by reading, sharing and giving books by Indigenous Canadian authors."
Starting today and continuing each weekday until December 22nd, follow Minister Bennett's social media accounts for an inspiring book geared for children and young adults. You can participate in the 2nd #IndigenousReads Holiday Campaign by sharing with your friends and family the daily recommendations or by sending us your very own book recommendation.
