OTTAWA, July 1, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement to mark Canada Day:
"Today millions of Canadians from coast to coast to coast are celebrating the birth of our great country together with family and friends. During the celebrations, please remember to stay safe, be aware of your surroundings and report any dangerous or suspicious behavior to local authorities.
As I reflect on our country this Canada Day, I am humbled by the tireless efforts of our citizens to keep Canada one of the safest and most welcoming countries in the world. I am filled with pride when I think back to the outpouring of support shown by Canadians during the wildfires in Fort McMurray, and the great lengths taken across our country to welcome more than 25,000 newcomers from Syria.
As our nation turns 149 today, and we look forward to our 150th year of Confederation ahead, I would like to wish all of you a safe and happy Canada Day."
