OTTAWA, Sept. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement about the flooding situation in the States of Texas and Louisiana:
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Texas, Louisiana and the surrounding areas, who have been displaced or directly affected by the disastrous effects of Hurricane Harvey.
Canada and U.S. have a close relationship and history of helping one another in times of need. We are working closely with the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with the participation of the Governments of Ontario and Quebec, to provide a range of much needed supplies including; hygiene kits, bed pillows, bath towels, baby formula, baby disposable bottles, baby cribs and baby linens.
The resilience and support demonstrated by the people in the affected area echo the solidarity and steadfastness with which Canada stands by our close friend and ally, the United States. I want to commend local volunteers, first responders and residents who continue to work selflessly to keep their neighbours and communities safe."
