Statement from Ontario's Chief Electoral Officer on today's by-election in the electoral district of Simcoe North Français
TORONTO, Sept. 3, 2015 /CNW/ - "76 polling stations opened this morning at 9 a.m. EST in the electoral district of Simcoe North. These stations will remain open until 9 p.m. EST to ensure every voter in Simcoe North has an opportunity to cast their ballot," said Chief Electoral Officer, Greg Essensa.
Before heading to the polls, eligible voters should remember to bring their Notice of Registration card and a piece of ID that proves identity and residence. This could be one document such as an Ontario driver's license or two documents, such as a bank card and a utility bill. For a full list of acceptable pieces of identification needed to vote, or for information on how to add yourself to the voter's list, please visit http://www.wemakevotingeasy.ca.
Once the polls have closed at 9 p.m. EST, live election results will begin to be available on the Elections Ontario website. The website will detail the number of votes cast for each candidate, the cumulative totals and the number of polling places reporting in each electoral district. Live results posted this evening are unofficial.
