OTTAWA, Dec. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, issued the following statement today:
"I was deeply saddened to learn that a gentleman with whom I was honoured to travel to France earlier this year was robbed in his home earlier today.
"Mr. Ernest Côté, a 101-year-old D-Day Veteran, is an honourable and brave Canadian who landed on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944. I am privileged to know him, and I am angry to think that someone would do such a thing to any Canadian senior, let alone someone who fought to secure the freedom we all enjoy.
"I hope that the person who did this will face the full force of the law."
