OTTAWA, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW/ - I am honoured to be appointed to serve Canadians as the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime. I see the role of the Ombudsman as one that holds a significant responsibility to victims of crime and their families.
It is a true privilege to be able to bring my nearly twenty years of advocacy experience to this new role. Having worked extensively with victims and their families to understand their needs and concerns, I hope to use this knowledge to inform policy and decision makers about how best to serve victims. In the coming months I will be engaging stakeholders to help guide me in my work to champion victims' rights and ensure survivors' voices are heard and considered.
I look forward to working with victims, service providers and the federal government to positively influence systemic change for victims and survivors of crime in Canada.
