Statement From the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
Office of the Fire Marshal's report follows March 29, 2013 fatal fire in Sharon, Ontario
AJAX, ON, Aug. 13, 2014 /CNW/ - Earlier today, Ontario's Fire Marshal released a report into the March 29, 2013 fatal fire on Howard Avenue in Sharon, Ontario. This fire was a tragedy for the family and friends of the Dunsmuir family and for the entire East Gwillimbury community.
This report serves to highlight the critical importance for homes to have working smoke alarms on all levels and outside every sleeping area, a home fire safety plan that has been practiced and a plan for all vulnerable occupants in the home.
Going forward, the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs will continue to work with our member fire services in communicating these critical items to all Ontarians. In addition, we will work to assist in implementing any other recommendations and processes resulting from this report.
