Statement of Claim issued against Algoma University alleging discrimination

TORONTO, March 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Mary Angela McGregor Pitawanakwat, an Anishinaabekwe, of the Anishinaabek of Wiigwaaskinaga, and a former employee at Algoma University, today caused a Statement of Claim to be issued with the Toronto Superior Court of Justice alleging that she was wrongfully dismissed from Algoma University.

McGregor Pitawanakwat commenced her employment with Algoma University to promote traditional Anishinaabe education in a university context, while remaining true to traditional Anishinaabe values, principles and lifeways.  In her Claim, McGregor Pitawankwat details disturbing allegations of discrimination and defamation suffered throughout the course of her employment with Algoma University.
