TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - Canada's National Brewers congratulate the Ford government on today's announcement to prevent further beer tax hikes in Ontario.
The significant, regular, beer tax increases put in place by the Wynne government had negative impacts on the industry, on beer consumers and the province's economic activity. We applaud the government's decision to address this important issue and appreciate the quick action taken on the issue by Premier Ford and Finance Minister Vic Fedeli.
This is a huge win for beer consumers in Ontario.
Canada's National Brewers is the national trade association representing brewers with manufacturing operations across the country. Established in 2005, the association represents two (2) domestic brewers (Labatt & Molson) who collectively produce approximately 80% of all beer brewed in Canada. Canada's National Brewers represents these brewers on a wide range of public policy, regulatory affairs, community interest and public image issues including a broad range of government and public affairs issues affecting the beer industry such as alcohol taxation, environmental regulations, and laws and regulations affecting the advertising, promotion, retailing and distribution of alcohol.
