OTTAWA, Sept. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Seamus O'Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, issued the following statement on the 100th anniversary of Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
"Today we celebrate the centenary of Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This has been a year of milestones; earlier this year, we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy and the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid; and in November, we will mark another important anniversary from the First World War; the 100th anniversary of Passchendaele.
A century of care is no small milestone. Since 1917, Camp Hill Hospital has served Canada's Veterans with compassion and respect; and over these past 100 years, the staff at Camp Hill have played a pivotal role in the health and well-being of our country's Veterans and their families.
To the staff at Camp Hill, thank you for being on the front lines of care, and bringing patience and compassion to the workplace every day. Your hard work and dedication helps create independence, provides comfort, relieves suffering, and improves the quality of life for Veterans in your community. Veterans and their families need to know that we, as a nation, respect and appreciate their brave service and sacrifice and I know that Camp Hill Hospital has ensured that every step of the way.
It's by working together that we will continue to improve service and ensure Canada's Veterans have the support they need, throughout all the phases of their life.
Congratulations on 100 years of excellent and devoted service!"
