Statement to the Media - Southlake Responds to Allegations Made by SEIU Over
CEO's Recent Resignation
NEWMARKET, ON, Dec. 16 /CNW/ - In response to allegations made earlier today by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) - Local 1 Canada, relating to President & CEO, Dan Carriere's recently announced resignation, Southlake Regional Health Centre offers the following statement:
Mr. Carriere submitted his resignation to the Hospital's Board of Directors effective January 21, 2011, following an impressive 17-year career with the organization, in order to accept the new position of President & CEO at Centric Health (for more information, go to http://www.southlakeregional.org/news.resignationofpresident.html or visit Centric Health's website at www.centrichealth.ca).
"Southlake Regional Health Centre rejects any suggestion that Mr. Carriere is leaving the Hospital for any reason other than to accept an exciting new position in the private sector," said Stephen Quinlan, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Although we were saddened to receive his resignation, we understood that he had been approached with a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we wish him every success in his new career."
Mr. Quinlan added, "His contributions to Southlake over the last 17 years in establishing advanced healthcare services closer to home for our patients and their families, is indeed a legacy that we are all proud to celebrate."
