OTTAWA, Feb. 1, 2016 /CNW/ - Collection for the 2016 Census starts in February for some communities in remote and northern areas of the country, Statistics Canada announced today.
For the majority of the population, the census will take place in May 2016.
Early enumeration is conducted by personal interview. Starting in February, census representatives will visit households in remote areas of the territories, as well as in communities across northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Labrador.
The census questions have been translated into 11 Aboriginal languages, including Dené and Inuktitut, so that respondents can read them in their own language.
