"Stay Clear, Stay Safe" This Canada Day Long Weekend
TORONTO, June 29, 2012 /CNW/ - As families prepare for the first long weekend of the summer, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) reminds everyone to celebrate safely and to "Stay Clear, Stay Safe" around dams, hydroelectric stations and surrounding waterways.
"This is the perfect time to talk to your family about staying safe around water," says Frank Chiarotto, OPG's Senior Vice President Hydro-Thermal Operations. "Summer is about having fun and enjoying the outdoors and doing it safely," he added.
The water levels and flows can change quickly near power dams. OPG uses warning signs, buoys, fences, booms and barriers to help identify areas of danger. OPG sites are private property and trespassers can be charged.
