Steelworkers, Rocvent Inc. Reach Collective Agreement
SUDBURY ON, Nov. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2020 in Sudbury have reached a new collective agreement with Rocvent Inc.
The USW represents 19 workers at Rocvent, a manufacturer of mine and tunnel ventilation tubing, ducting and related accessories.
The workers voted 68% to accept a three-year collective agreement that includes significant wage increases and benefit enhancements. The union's bargaining committee had recommended acceptance of the agreement.
The previous collective agreement between the workers and the company expired on Sept. 30, 2012. The workers had rejected the company's original offer for a new contract on Sept. 21, after which a conciliator was brought in to resume negotiations.
Another offer was presented by the company and accepted by union members today. The company and the union are very pleased with the outcome of the negotiations and the vote.
