Government of Canada supports community project of Town of Hudson
HUDSON, QC, June 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister for Youth, today announced that the Town of Hudson has been granted $250 000 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, for the renovation and expansion of the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre.
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects such as this one by the Town of Hudson, which contribute to the strength and vitality of the middle class and those working hard to join the middle class in this region.
Settled in the 18th century, the Town of Hudson has been a place of pristine beauty and rich cultural history. The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will enable le Town of Hudson to have new upgrades to the existing community centre, extending its longevity and capacity to serve residents of the town. The Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre has been serving the town's residents for decades, and is home to art installations, community celebrations, and fitness classes frequented by Hudsonites.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
