Special guests and volunteers descend on local charities to celebrate importance of giving back
TORONTO, June 10, 2016 /CNW/ - Today Tangerine's program ambassador Steve Nash and Tangerine President and CEO, Peter Aceto, will board a bus full of employee volunteers for a city-wide tour called 'The Road to a #BrightWayForward.' This special day will see the group pay visits to three local charity partners including ACCES Employment, FoodShare, and Youth Without Shelter, to lend a helping hand and highlight the importance of community volunteerism.
Through its sponsorship and community investment program, #BrightWayForward, Tangerine has been working with program ambassador Steve Nash to help empower more than 500,000 Canadians. To do this, Tangerine works with incredible charitable organizations across the country to support programs that inspire self-esteem, teamwork, and encourage a sense of belonging.
The Road to a #BrightWayForward is a special initiative meant to surprise and delight Tangerine's local partners while celebrating the meaningful work that goes on year-round as a part of the program. Volunteerism is at the heart of #BrightWayForward with employees dedicating over 5,000 hours a year to help partners deliver on their programs that help empower Canadians.
"At Tangerine, we're committed to making a difference in the lives of Canadians and giving back through #BrightWayForward is a big part of how we do this," said Peter Aceto, President and CEO of Tangerine. "We call our employee volunteerism Orange in the Community and it's really the foundation of our efforts – rather than just cutting a cheque, we enjoy rolling up our sleeves and being actively involved in the causes we support to ensure we're truly making a difference."
Other national #BrightWayForward partners include Canada Basketball and Steve Nash Youth Basketball. In addition, Tangerine has local partners in each of the cities where its cafés are located including Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto. From Orange in the Community to its Community Gym events across the country – Tangerine is committed to giving back in many lasting and meaningful ways.
"By teaming up with incredible charitable organizations across the country, including Steve Nash Youth Basketball, there's no doubt that #BrightWayForward helps empower and inspire Canadians to do great things," said Steve Nash, a two-time NBA MVP who also acts as General Manager of Canada's Senior Men's National Basketball Team. "It's great to celebrate this work and visit the other partners to help demonstrate first-hand how #BrightWayForward comes to life."
