Stikine - NONDA Frac Sand Pilot Plant Update
TSX-V: SKY
VANCOUVER, Oct 4 /CNW/ - Stikine Energy Corp. (TSX.V: SKY) ("Stikine" or the "Company") announces that Sepro Mineral Systems Corp. of Langley, B.C. has delivered and commenced assembly of the major components to a pilot plant site located in Abbotsford, BC. Commissioning is currently planned for October 12, 2010.
The pilot plant includes larger process equipment to emulate the Company's successful lab-scale work that produced high-quality frac sand from Nonda samples. As a result, the testing will provide the first opportunity to evaluate the process at an industrial scale. An independent 'qualified person' will supervise operations of the plant and the results will help to define operating parameters and yields, as well as providing estimates of capital and operating costs for the process.
The pilot plant will also be capable of testing other sandstone sources of raw material, including the Company's 100% held Angus property, located in proximity to the Montney Basin. In its initial production of Nonda material, the plant will operate at approximately two tonnes per hour and it has been designed to primarily produce 40/70-mesh and 100-mesh products.
Stikine is focused on becoming a dominant frac sand supplier to British Columbia's developing gas industry. The Horn River, Liard and Montney Basins are dominated by major gas producers who currently rely on frac sand transported over great distances. Stikine's Nonda project is located in close proximity to the Horn River and Liard Basins and the Angus project lies in close proximity to the Montney Basin.
