Stir things up with the new Milk Calendar
2011 Milk Calendar full of surprises - exciting new ingredients, twists on family
favourites and healthy updates on take-out classics
TORONTO, Nov. 16 /CNW/ - On Saturday, November 20, Ontario's favourite calendar will be available free in most daily newspapers across the province. The 2011 edition of Dairy Farmers of Canada's ever popular Milk Calendar features some exciting new elements, while remaining true to its promise to deliver delicious, family-focused fare.
"This year we are giving Milk Calendar fans a collection of recipes perfect for any occasion, all year round," says 2011 Milk Calendar recipe developer Jennifer MacKenzie. "We've incorporated new food trends and new flavours and given them the Milk Calendar treatment, which means kid-approved, well-balanced and mouth-watering recipes."
Jennifer Mackenzie has been busy dreaming up new Milk Calendar recipes for over 10 years and this year she is proud to be the official spokesperson for the 2011 Milk Calendar.
"I am passionate about great tasting food, but also very aware of the need for balanced nutrition," said MacKenzie. "The Milk Calendar is famous for taking several Canadian classic dishes and giving them a healthy, modern update. For example, check out February's take on mac n' cheese, the Spinach Cavatappi Gratin, or August's Light and Fresh Cobb Salad."
Some of the Milk Calendar's biggest fans are children. This year the Milk Calendar contains 17 recipes with the kid-friendly stamp of approval.
"One recipe that is going to be a guaranteed hit with kids is September's Whoopie Pies," says MacKenzie. "They are so colourful and fun to make."
Each month features a recipe containing at least one cup of milk and thoughtfully combines foods from Canada's Food Guide. The recipes cover everything from main dishes to desserts to hearty soups. The 2011 Milk Calendar also contains a baking page, a Canadian cheese page and a cream page, which each contain four mouth-watering recipes.
If consumers needed one more great reason to hold on to their free Milk Calendar than they need look no further - this year the 2011 Milk Calendar features a 'Match & Win a Honda' contest. Each 2011 Milk Calendar has a unique number on the front of the calendar. Consumers are invited to check it every month at MyMilkCalendar.ca/Honda. If their number matches, they can win the Honda product that appears on the Milk Calendar page for that given month. A new winning number appears every month at MyMilkCalendar.ca/Honda.
