STORM UPDATE - REOPENING OF 402 EASTBOUND LANES
LAMBTON COUNTY, ON, Dec. 15 /CNW/ - The County of Lambton still remains under a "State of Emergency" dealing with the continued fallout from the snow storm that hit this area.
Highway 402 eastbound only has been cleared in its entirety. Traffic can now travel from the Bluewater Bridge to Highway 401. Motorists that are using that stretch of road are asked to drive carefully as the entire roadway is passable, but still has icy and snow covered sections.
County Road 22/London Line is the designated Emergency Detour Route (EDR) for traffic travelling west. It has been cleared and is passable for traffic in both directions.
Progress continues on dealing with the issues of westbound 402 between Nauvoo Road and Mandaumin Road. It remains closed while snow removal and towing operations continues.
Police ask that those motorists who have vehicles stranded in that area to remain patient. Crews are making every effort to get this stretch of roadway opened as soon as possible. Most secondary roadways traversing east and westbound have been ploughed and are passable. Main roads that travel north and south are in similar condition.
Police personnel on snowmobiles and working with the Military air support are continuing to search all secondary roads for disabled vehicles north and south of Highway 402 that have still not been ploughed.
