Student Vote results expected to predict outcome of Ontario municipal and
school board elections
TORONTO, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - To mark the 2010 municipal and school board elections, students across the province have participated in a parallel election run by Student Vote in partnership with Local Government Week and the Ontario Government.
Between October 17 and 23, students under the voting age conducted a vote on local mayoral, council and school board trustee candidates.
Approximately 950 schools from 200 municipalities reported more than 350,000 votes.
The results of Student Vote will be shared at 8:00pm tonight for broadcast and publication.
Taylor Gunn, Chief Election Officer, said this morning, "Student Vote is delighted with the turnout for its first ever Ontario Municipal and School Board Election program. Student Vote results have traditionally predicted winners in past federal and provincial elections in Canada, so it will be interesting to see if this holds true tonight."
