New monthly sales record makes 2011 second best year in company history.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. is pleased to announce a new all-time sales record for the month of December. Sales climbed to 2,493 units, up 6.2 percent over last December. These record-breaking results helped Subaru Canada reach its grand total of 26,984 units sold for the year, enabling 2011 to become the second best year in Subaru Canada's history.
With Subaru's brand new 2012 Impreza just released earlier in the month, it was also a record December for this model. With 991 units sold, sales were up a whopping 93.9 percent over the same period last year. Sales of the 2012 WRX STI also reached 170 units, up by 6.3 percent over last December.
"We're very proud of these results, achieved in spite of the extra challenges faced by Japanese manufacturers after the devastating tsunami last March," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "We've also recently learned that the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) has recognized us again as the only manufacturer with a 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK winner for all models. This year's results reflect the fact that consumers have a lot of confidence in the value and safety that is built in to every Subaru vehicle."
