Best-in-class honours awarded to 2013 Impreza, Outback and BRZ.
TORONTO, Feb. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. today announced that it has received three Canadian Residual Value Awards from automotive insights company ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values. Subaru was awarded Residual Value Awards in ALG's Compact Car, Midsize Utility and Sports Car categories for its 2013 Impreza, Outback and BRZ, respectively.
ALG's Residual Value Awards honour the vehicles that are forecast to retain the highest percentage of MSRP after a three-year period for luxury brands and a four-year period for mainstream brands. Award recipients were chosen after a careful evaluation of vehicle criteria, including segment competition, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. This year's awards are based on 2013 model year vehicles. Awards are given in 22 vehicle categories and two brand categories (Mainstream and Premium).
For the fifth consecutive year, the Subaru Impreza remains at the top of the Compact Car segment. According to ALG, qualities such as competitive pricing, impressive fuel economy and features like all-wheel-drive at a minimal price premium support the 2013 Impreza as the Residual Value Award winner in a hyper-competitive segment.
For the third consecutive year, the Subaru Outback claims the Midsize Utility Vehicle award. ALG notes that consistently high demand combined with mid-lifecycle improvements enable Subaru to keep incentive and daily rental fleet sales to a minimum.
A new contender in a newly renamed category is the 2013 Subaru BRZ, taking home top honours in the hotly contested Sports Car segment. The Subaru BRZ receives ALG's Residual Value Award for successfully combining practical features such as impressive fuel economy with emotional aspects like endearing styling and a sporting driving experience.
"Our approach is designed to give the Subaru driver an unsurpassed level of confidence behind the wheel," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada. "This dedication has helped us consistently rank as one of the industry's top manufacturers. Having the highest predicted resale value in three segments will help more and more Canadians put Subaru on their shopping lists."
"Subaru's steady approach of delivering dependable product with minimal incentives and fleet make them a consistent Residual Value contender," said Geoff Helby, Canada Regional Director for ALG. "This approach is a winning formula for Subaru and for Canadian consumers."
