MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI), is pleased to announce that the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid will be arriving in the Canadian marketplace by the end of November. Priced at $29,995, the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid aims to bring Canadians a more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly Subaru - plus more performance and comfort.
New Subaru Hybrid Drive System
Based on the popular XV Crosstrek crossover introduced for 2013, the new XV Crosstrek Hybrid offers the capability and versatility of the gasoline-powered version plus the added environmental benefits of a hybrid powertrain - including higher fuel efficiency - to broaden the vehicle's appeal. Key to this approach is that the XV Crosstrek Hybrid shares the gasoline model's Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive and chassis capability. With the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru re-engineered the chassis and suspension, resulting in improved handling, steering and ride. The XV Crosstrek Hybrid also uses the same 148-horsepower 2.0-litre 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine as the rest of the lineup, but integrates an exclusive Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) that attaches to a 13.5-horsepower electric motor within its symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system to create the new Subaru Hybrid Drive system. As a result, the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid offers enhanced engine response and fuel economy.
Unparalleled Efficiency
Already acclaimed as the most fuel-efficient full-time All-Wheel Drive crossover in North America, the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid achieves manufacturer-estimated fuel economy ratings of 6.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, which also makes it Subaru's most fuel-efficient vehicle. Contributing to its fuel-efficient status is the XV Crosstrek Hybrid's new automatic start/stop system, which enables the engine to stop when the vehicle is at rest with the brake pedal activated; the engine reactivates when the brakes are released. Subaru's hybrid crossover also goes the distance with fewer resources, operating on battery power alone and emitting zero emissions.
Environmental Sensitivity
The all-new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid was born a leader in efficiency and environmental sensitivity. Like all Subaru vehicles, the XV Crosstrek Hybrid is built in a zero-landfill plant in Gunma, Japan. Since every Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid has an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) rating, it's also the lowest-emissions All-Wheel Drive hybrid crossover in North America.
Smart Design, Inside and Out
The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid offers smart design features on the outside with comfort and convenience inside. In terms of exterior features, the XV Crosstrek Hybrid offers elements exclusive to this trim level such as silver raised-profile roof rails and lightweight, aerodynamic aluminum alloy wheels. On the inside, comfort and convenience features include automatic climate control, heated front seats, a power sunroof and steering wheel-integrated Bluetooth and audio controls, while keyless access and push-button start is unique to this trim level.
