MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 6, 2016 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is thrilled to announce Subaru Rally Team Canada's win at this weekend's Rocky Mountain Rally, leading podium standings and maintaining first-place manufacturer status for Subaru. A total of seven Subaru vehicles finished in the top ten at the second event of the Canadian Rally Championship season in Invermere, B.C.
Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Antoine L'Estage and co-driver Darren Garrod claimed victory at this weekend's Rocky Mountain Rally after a hard fought battle against imported European WRC machinery. Rounding out the podium, third-place finisher Brandon Semenuk made his mark on the 2016 Canadian Rally Championship season in a Subaru Impreza WRX STI at the second event of the season.
This weekend's victory allowed the Canadian Rally Champion, L'Estage, to set the all-time record for CRC wins at 44, besting the previous record, 43, set by John Buffum.
"This is a very important win for us" claims L'Estage. "It puts us back in the championship race after a tough first event. Thanks to Subaru Canada and Rocket Rally; the car was flawless. Overall it is a big team win."
The team is now shifting their focus to Rallye Baie des Chaleurs, taking place July 2-3 in New Richmond, QC.
