Submissions open for the Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Awards for
Applied Art and Design
VANCOUVER, March 11 /CNW/ - Keith Mitchell, Chair of the British Columbia Achievement Foundation announced today the Call for Submissions and Nominations for the annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design.
"These awards honour outstanding creativity in art and design that has a practical application," said Mitchell. "To date, we have honoured 23 outstanding British Columbians who work in jewellery, glass, wood, fibre, clay, metal, industrial or fashion design."
An artist may be nominated or self-submit to these juried awards. Up to three awards of $2,500 will be presented at a formal ceremony in the fall of 2010.
Judson Beaumont (furniture design) of Vancouver, Robert Johnston of Vancouver (Industrial design) and Lilach Lotan of Nanaimo (ceramics) were selected as the 2009 recipients.
The BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design are generously sponsored by cultural supporter Dr. Yosef Wosk and are named in his honour and that of Sam Carter, BC applied art and design advocate and educator.
The British Columbia Achievement Foundation is an independent foundation, established and endowed by the Province of British Columbia in 2003 to celebrate excellence in community service, arts, humanities and enterprise.
