TORONTO, May 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Trustees from Ontario's Catholic school boards gathered in Toronto on May 3, to elect Regional Directors for the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association (OCSTA) and to meet Ontario's Minister of Education, the Hon. Liz Sandals. The election and meeting was part of OCSTA's Annual General Meeting and Conference.
During the Minister's presentation, she acknowledged the contribution of Ontario's Catholic school boards to the success of Ontario's education system—an education system that has received international acclaim for its innovation and ability to support student success.
Trustees welcomed the Minister's statements about Catholic education and her unequivocal support for publicly funded Catholic schools. The Minister further added that "Catholic boards have committed themselves wholeheartedly to improving student achievement and have been a key partner in the success of Ontario's education system."

The Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association is the provincial voice for publicly funded Catholic education. Founded in 1930, OCSTA represents the interests of Catholic school boards that collectively educate approximately 600,000 students in Ontario, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
