SUDBURY, ON, April 17, 2013 /CNW/ - The Racing Against Drugs organizing committee invites you to attend a drug, alcohol and tobacco awareness event targeting Grade 5 and 6 students from schools across Greater Sudbury. The event runs from April 23rd -25th, 2013, at the Dr. Edgar Leclair Community Centre reception hall. While closed to the public, press is invited to attend the media designated session on Wednesday 24th April at 10:30 am.
The three day car racing-themed event provides students with a number of hands-on interactive teaching sessions. Students will move through 11 presentations lasting approximately eight minutes each and learn about the health and social impacts of being under the influence of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, as well as educational modules on first aid, ATV safety, Bullying and practical refusal skills to peer pressure. These sessions seek to inspire the students to make appropriate leisure and social activity choices. At the end of each session there will be a game competition "Need for Speed -video game Drift".
This year's event will be presented to approximately 800 children from all 4 local school boards through the work of our law enforcement, educational and social service agencies and the generous support of many corporate sponsors.
