Sudbury Resident to receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Brenda Folz will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 26, 2012 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
Folz is the Marketing Director for the New Sudbury Centre, which is Sudbury's largest and busiest mall. During Fire Prevention Week last year, Folz permitted the Greater Sudbury Fire Services to set up their awareness campaign materials in the centre court of the mall for the entire week. To assist with the initiative, Folz enlisted mall staff to help with setting up and dismantling the campaign displays. Additionally, Folz has also provided the fire department with free space in the mall to sell its firefighter calendar, proceeds from which support various fire department activities and charities throughout the Sudbury area.
Folz's contributions to fire safety don't end there. She was the driving force behind the New Sudbury Centre's $15,000 sponsorship of a CTV public service announcement (PSA) campaign that ran for an entire year. As a result of this sponsorship over 400, 30-second fire safety PSAs were broadcast throughout Northern Ontario.
"Brenda has become the go-to resource for the Greater Sudbury Fire Services, whose public education programs have benefited greatly from her marketing skills and expertise," said Ted Wieclawek, Ontario Fire Marshal.
The Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council gratefully acknowledges the support of its sponsors in this event: Technical Standards and Safety Authority, The Co-operators Group, Kidde Canada Inc., Home Depot of Canada Inc., Proctor & Gamble Inc., Domino's Pizza of Canada, Electrical Safety Authority, Canadian Standards Association Group and Enbridge Gas Distribution.
