Canadian Tire du Québec sends 472 Quebec kids to summer camp
KIRKLAND, QC, July 2 /CNW Telbec/ - This week it all begins at Perce-Neige summer camp, an outdoor recreation area now entering its tenth year as property of La Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire du Québec. Set in the magnificent surroundings of Wentworth-Nord in the Laurentians, this five-star facility will welcome 472 underprivileged kids from all over Quebec in four sessions, each group filling the site with laughter and good times.
"Can you imagine?" says Jici Lauzon, spokesperson for La Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire du Québec. "These kids will have the time of their lives! Ten days of summer camp, far from grown-up problems, enjoying all kinds of activities in the great outdoors, meeting new friends, laughing, having fun-just being a kid living in the moment, safe and sound! There's no better gift."
Alongside a host of sports and recreational activities, the camp will be hosting for a second time La Tablée des Chefs, a project bringing in major chefs to teach young people to cook, with an emphasis on nutrition, good taste, and affordability.
"Putting smiles on kids' faces and filling their heads with wonderful memories is what the Foundation is really all about," says Yves Gagné, Sainte-Foy storeowner and Foundation president. "We owe a big thank you to our customers, dealers, staff, and volunteers for their outstanding generosity. It's what's allowed Canadian Tire to give something back to our communities and needy families these last 20 years."
About La Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire du Québec
La Fondation Bon départ-celebrating its 20th anniversary this year-is all about helping kids get a good start in life, supporting their families in tough times, and helping a community organization carry out its plans. Besides the Perce-Neige outdoor recreation area, which is now also welcoming 2,500 disabled people and features year-round snow and nature groups, over 55,000 young Quebecers have benefited from Canadian Tire Jumpstart, a nationwide, locally managed initiative to get young people moving by involving them in organized sports and recreation. In Quebec, close to $6 million has been channeled into our young people's wellbeing.
