The Parc has many activities organized in the month of September, and they promise to be a source of entertainment for people of all ages, starting on the holiday weekend of September 3.
Jean-Doré Beach and the Aquatic Complex: on September 3-5
The forecast is for a sunny and warm Labour Day weekend at Parc Jean-Drapeau as the Beach and Aquatic Complex open for the final time during this summer season, September 3-5, from noon to 7 p.m. Along with swimming, visitors can have loads of fun on the huge Aquazilla inflatable structure set up on the water at the Beach, or simply by renting pedal boats, canoes, kayaks or stand up paddleboards at the water activities Pavilion.
Wake sur l'île: September 4-5
Parc Jean-Drapeau and Coors Banquet are organizing the biggest teletraction wakeboarding competition in Montréal on September 4-5. Some 20 wakeboarding professionals will be competing at Jean-Doré Beach in an effort to win the first-ever Wake sur l'île title; the competitors include Ben Leclerc and brothers Marc-André and Pierre-Luc Besner. Adults are invited to come and cheer on the participants from the Terrasse du Lac, a terrace that will be set up like an actual surf shack: a bar, DJ, entertainment, volleyball and the presence of the Coors Banquet team.
Challenge 911: September 4
Challenge 911 is an 8-hour biking or running relay on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, where 450 participants from public services raise funds for the Breakfast Club. Come over and cheer them on!
Esprit Montréal Triathlon: September 10-11
Triathlon Esprit de Montréal, held at the Olympic Basin, plays host to more than 7,000 athletes who participate in a multi-discipline event that includes biking, running and/or swimming. Come and lend them your support; the course is set up so that fans are right in the heat of the action!
48 Ride Make-a-Wish: September 16-18
Make-a-Wish Québec has been organizing an event since 2007 in which participants do a bike relay for 48 hours on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, raising funds to grant the wishes of children who are gravely ill, to bring them hope, strength and joy.
Québec Cup dragon boat competition: September 17-18
The Québec Cup dragon boat competition at the Olympic Basin is the final leg of the Triple Crown Circuit, which also included the H2O Open and Montreal Challenge events. The teams compete in 200, 500 and 2000 metre races.
Marathon de Montréal: September 25
At the Montréal marathon and half-marathon, one of the biggest running events in Canada, more than 30,000 participants wend their along Parc Jean-Drapeau and various boroughs in the city. It's a major event that should not be missed!
Piknic Électronik: September 3-5 – September 11 – September 18 – September 25 and October 2
The Piknic Électronik events continue under Alexander Calder's famed sculpture, L'Homme. Dance to your heart's content in the brilliant sunshine and enjoy the terrific view of downtown Montréal.
The Color Run by Night: October 1
Under a starlit sky, runners participate in a 5-kilometre run where they travel through 4 fluorescent coloured zones, a bubble-filled zone and a surprise zone on circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. A fun-time is guaranteed for participants and spectators alike.
Every day at Parc Jean-Drapeau
In addition to these events, the Parc continues to offer a wide array of popular daily activities, including biking, running or in-line skating on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, the rental of bikes and Segways via the Centre Écorécréo, and the entertaining and educational exhibitions at the Stewart Museum and the Biosphere, Environment Museum.
