MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Summitt Energy employees celebrated the holiday season with the spirit of giving back to the local community by bringing smile to financially disadvantaged children, feeding the hungry and much more.
Various initiatives were set in place throughout the company head office, each in the festive spirit, to encourage everyone to work together to exceed the giving goals. By the end of December, Summitt was more than delighted with the results of this endeavor! First, Summitt employees packed their grocery bags and collected nearly 300lbs of non-perishable food items which were delivered to Fire Station 114. The fire fighters were more than happy to help unload the many boxes that were to be delivered to the Mississauga Food Bank to help feed those who are hungry in our community.
Second, Summitt participated in 'Toys for Tots' to collect and donate toys to less fortunate children and families in the Peel region. This incredible program was initiated by the Peel Regional Police in 1993, who have since partnered up with The Salvation Army and Canadian Tire to "help give a kid a Christmas". Summitt was proud to donate nearly 200 unwrapped gifts which were picked up by Constable Adrian Woolley on December 19th. "As a company, we are always looking for ways to support our local communities," said Gerry Haggarty, President of Summitt Energy. "A big thank you to all of our employees for their overwhelming participation and generosity in giving back this holiday season".
We encourage everyone to find it in themselves to support their communities in any way they can throughout the entire year and hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and a happy new year!
