Sun Life Financial among industry first to offer Workplace to employees across the globe
TORONTO, Sept. 26, 2017 /CNW/ - Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) today announced it has launched Workplace by Facebook ("Workplace"), a communications platform that connects the global enterprise with familiar tools to increase collaboration and productivity. Workplace is currently being used by Sun Life employees in Canada, the U.S., and Asia and is expected to be rolled-out to all employees across its global operations by July 2018.
Sun Life Financial recently moved its global headquarters to Toronto's dynamic south core and reaffirmed its commitment to digital innovation, sustainability and providing an agile work environment for all employees. With operations in markets around the world, Sun Life Financial will leverage Workplace to:
- Increase collaboration across time zones and space.
- Enhance video capability and the ability to host team meetings around the world.
- Grow mobile solutions for employees.
- Attract and retain top talent, supporting the company's high performance culture.
- Reduce the amount of email.
"We are proud to be among the first financial services companies to offer Workplace to our employees," said Mark Saunders, Executive Vice-President & Chief Information Officer, Sun Life Financial. "At Sun Life, we're always looking for new ways to work more efficiently and collaborate more effectively to deliver for our Clients. As we continue on our digital transformation journey, Workplace will help us connect more easily and share information, best practices and ideas regardless of where people are located or what language they speak."
To date, approximately 6000 Sun Life employees are using Workplace with more being added each day. Workplace is contributing to Sun Life's high performance culture by providing employees with a collaborative space to share news and updates on company strategy, highlight articles of interest related to the business including its commitment to community and sustainable practices, reward and recognize employees, and celebrate key project milestones.
"No matter the work style, Workplace is giving our employees an easy way to engage, communicate, and collaborate with each other," said Dan Fishbein, M.D., President, Sun Life Financial U.S. "Workplace is easy to navigate and we've made it available to our employees on any desktop or mobile device so they can access it in a way that is most convenient for them."
This new technology is the latest move by Sun Life Financial as it continues to transform its business by advancing the company's digital strategy.
