Sunset Cove Announces the Discovery of its 7th Adit
TORONTO, Feb. 20, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - (TSXV: SSM) (BVL:SSM) Sunset Cove is pleased to announce that it has discovered a new artisanal adit located near the San Sebastian River at the base of the Carolay Silver Polymetallic property.
"The discovery of this new adit with apparent polymetallic mineralization during our exploration is very encouraging, " said Lorne Woods, President and CEO of Sunset Cove. "Its discovery means that the Carolay Vein system has been traced over several kilometers in length and now over several hundred meters of vertical extent and is proving to be an extensive mineralized system."
The entrance to the adit is found at 2028 meters above sea level and measures 1.40 meters wide by 1.60 meters high and is 4.50 meters deep. The adit in the mine entrance has a strike of 57°North and a dip of 55°Southeast and seems to follow a mineralized tensional structure that is in the metasediment in the gneiss. This tensional structure features strong silification with veinlets of quartz, galena and stibinite and visible sulfur dissemination and stockworks of iron-oxide and manganese-oxide veinlets.
The gneissic country rock features strong silification along with sericite alteration. Sulfides are present in fractures and faults.
It is possible that the San Sebastian River may be hosted in a larger fault zone and that tensional structures associated with the fault zone cross the gneiss and schist and are mineralized. Theses mineralized tension structures may represent excellent opportunities for the discovery of polymetallic mineralization of the Carolay system over excellent widths.
The Target warrants further exploration and perhaps with more work wider mineralized structures maybe discovered. The San Sebastian River discovery also demonstrates that polymetallic mineralization is not only present in the metavolcanic rocks but may also be present in the gneisses.
