Superstar Colin James and Tenor Fernando Varela join "It's Always Something" Variety Show for Gilda's Club Greater Toronto - Hosted by RUSSELL PETERS
TORONTO, Oct. 9, 2014 /CNW/ - Six-time Juno Award winner Colin James and world acclaimed tenor Fernando Varela have joined host Russell Peters and another star-studded line-up for "It's Always Something", Canada's number one variety show, to support Gilda's Club Greater Toronto, taking place Thursday, November 20th at Sony Centre for The Performing Arts.
James is one of Canada's most successful singer-songwriters, now recording his 17th album. His debut album in 1988 was the fastest selling in Canadian history, he has sold multi-platinum many times over and continues to sell out shows nationwide. Varela has emerged as a global singing sensation, performing with David Foster and Friends, finishing 4th in 2013's "America's Got Talent" and is now recognized as one of the world's finest tenors. Also announced is the cast of "The Next Step", the young dance troupe featured on The Family Channel's hit show. James, Varela, "The Next Step" and all performers are donating their talents to Gilda's Club Greater Toronto, a cancer care centre providing free social and emotional support programs for anyone touched by cancer - kids, teens and adults, along with their family and friends.
In addition to host Russell Peters, James, Varela and "The Next Step" will be joining a line-up including famed soprano Measha Brueggergosman, with material from her new album "Measha's Christmas" to be released by Warner Music Canada this fall; the master of improvisational comedy, Gemini Award-winning Colin Mochrie; acclaimed singer-songwriter Steven Page; and singer-songwriter and former winner of 'Canadian Idol', Theo. And, as is its tradition, more talent will be announced as the show date nears, making "It's Always Something" one of the must-attend entertainment events of the year.
Proceeds from "It's Always Something" support Gilda's Club Greater Toronto, named after famed comedian Gilda Radner. Over its 12 years, the show has netted more than $4.5 million to fulfill Gilda's wish that "no one should face cancer alone."
