Government of Canada provides financial assistance for Gatineau's LavaBlast Software
GATINEAU, QC, May 24, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and market innovative products. To this end, the Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian enterprises. A real economic engine, innovation is the key to success, generating growth that benefits businesses and communities.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Steven MacKinnon, Member of Parliament for Gatineau, has announced that LavaBlast Software Inc. has been granted $500,000 in financial assistance. A repayable contribution of $250,000 has been awarded by CED to help commercialize its technological solution for franchisors and franchisees in Canada and abroad. The enterprise has received a non-repayable contribution of up to $250,000 through the National Research Council–Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to further its R&D activities in developing software solutions.
Created in 2007, LavaBlast Software is a technology business that has been working with the IRAP for a number of years to develop its software product. Their FranchiseBlast franchise management solution was launched on a large scale in 2013, and subsequently evolved into a franchise audit solution focused on continuous performance improvement. LavaBlast is continuing the technological advancement of FranchiseBlast with two R&D projects. The funding provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will enable LavaBlast Software to significantly increase its sales and, consequently, the number of sales-related jobs.
CED is one of six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Minister for Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Bains.
