VANCOUVER, Sept. 6, 2016 /CNW/ - On Saturday, September 10th, come out and support the North Shore Rescue (NSR) and the Tim Jones Legacy fund by enjoying a burger at your favourite North Shore White Spot. For every burger entrée sold from our special North Shore Rescue Burger Day menu at Park & Tilford, Lonsdale and Park Royal restaurants, a total of $1 will be donated to the Tim Jones Legacy Fund and NSR. In addition, 25 cents from the sale of every 20 oz Nat's Pale Ale or Lager by Granville Island Brewing, will be included in the donation.
The first annual event was created to raise funds and honour the legacy of Tim Jones. Tim was the leader of the NSR for over 25 years when he passed away suddenly in January 2014. Tim's goal was to create stable funding for all search and rescue efforts in the province, covering all operating expenses from year to year. As a team, the NSR wishes to honour his legacy and build his dream of sustainable funding.
North Shore Rescue members will also be present at the Park & Tilford location, from 10 am – 3 pm, to engage and educate the public about their role in the community. Members will be discussing trip planning, the 10 essentials to carry in the mountains and how to safely recreate in the beautiful North Shore mountains.
"We are so thankful for the generosity of the North Shore White Spot restaurants," says NSR Team Leader, Mike Danks. "With special fundraising days like this one, our organization moves one step closer to fulfilling Tim's dream."
"Tim Jones was a big supporter of our North Shore White Spot restaurants," says White Spot Vice President, Cathy Tostenson. "Tim and his team would often come for a meal after a rescue. His favourite meal was our Monty Mushroom burger! We are so thankful for the NSR and their tireless efforts to educate and raise awareness on how to safely enjoy our local mountains."
