Support the Children's Aid Foundation by making a donation at your local LCBO store
TORONTO, May 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Starting May 25, the public can help support Canada's most vulnerable children by making a donation at any of the more than 635 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for the Children's Aid Foundation will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until June 21.
The Children's Aid Foundation is an independent charity committed to improving the lives of abused and neglected children and youth involved with Ontario's child welfare system. The Children's Aid Foundation supports the individual needs of children before, during and after they leave the care of child welfare agencies. With the support of generous donors, the Children's Aid Foundation works with child welfare agencies across Ontario to provide funding for programs and services in the areas of prevention, education, enrichment, healing and recovery. Proceeds will go towards essential programs and services to improve the lives of abused and neglected children and young adults currently or formerly living in the child welfare system.
"We are thankful for the support of the LCBO's province-wide store network," says Valerie McMurtry, President and CEO, Children's Aid Foundation. "Through their donations, LCBO customers will have an opportunity to directly impact the lives and futures of deserving young people in their own communities. Every donation made will help a child get access to life-transforming programs and services that allow them to heal, rebuild their self-esteem and open doors to a brighter future."
"LCBO is pleased to partner with the Children's Aid Foundation and support a variety of worthy causes throughout the year," says LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter. "The generous support from LCBO customers and staff helps these charitable organizations make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities across Ontario."
The Children's Aid Foundation is one of 28 provincial and numerous local charities that will benefit from LCBO's province-wide donation box program in 2014. In 2012, LCBO raised a total of more than $6.6 million for charities through special programs and initiatives, of which $6.1 million was raised through in-store fundraising. In addition, LCBO's annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $1.7 billion in fiscal 2012-13, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and education.
The Children's Aid Foundation thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store from May 25 to June 21, 2014.
