The Government of Canada provides funding in support of the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival
MONCTON, NB, April 23, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced that the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival is receiving $20,000 for the participation of a Swedish delegation at their festival in Moncton through the Creative Export Envelope of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF). The Creative Export Envelope provides supplemental support to existing CAPF recipients that contribute to a favorable environment for Canadian cultural export by promoting Canadian artists to international markets.
This amount is added to the $180,000 that the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival receives from the Government of Canada for its programming in 2018–2020.
In alignment with the Government of Canada's Creative Export Strategy, the CAPF offered additional support in 2017–2018 to make investments in the participation of international presenters at Canadian arts festivals and events (in order to expose them to Canadian performers), and in the participation of Canadian arts presenters at international events.
Through the CAPF, Canadians have access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities. The CAPF provides financial assistance to organizations that present professional arts festivals or performing arts seasons and to organizations that offer support to arts presenters.
Each year, the CAPF supports around 650 professional arts festivals and performing arts seasons, and other activities related to arts presentation, in more than 250 cities or communities across Canada.
