Susan Black joins the Conference Board of Canada as President and CEO
OTTAWA, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, Dr. Susan Black joins Canada's largest applied-research organization, The Conference Board of Canada as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
"I strongly believe in the Conference Board's mission to build a better future for Canadians by making Canada's economy and society more dynamic and competitive," said Dr. Black. "I am excited to have the opportunity to build on its past success and contribute to the dialogue on the important issues shaping our country in this time of rapid change and disruption."
Dr. Black has held numerous executive positions including Chief Human Resources Officer with Intact Financial Corporation, and Senior Vice-President, People with Holt, Renfrew & Co., Limited. Dr. Black also founded and served as President of Catalyst Canada, a research and advisory non-profit organization that champions opportunities for women in business.
Dr. Black has served on the boards of York University, the Metro Toronto Housing Authority, and North York General Hospital. She currently sits on the board of Gore Mutual Insurance Company, a leading property and casualty insurance company.
Dr. Black will become the seventh President and CEO of The Conference Board of Canada. She succeeds Dr. Daniel Muzyka, who retired after six years as President and CEO.
Dr. Black is a graduate of Yale University (BA), is a Harvard MBA and, in her life-long quest to better understand human behaviour, obtained a Ph.D. in organizational studies from York University.
