SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS PUT FORWARD BY REDCLIFF MÉTIVIER RECOGNIZED
MONTREAL, Nov. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Redcliff Métivier is proud to announce that the leading sustainable development practices put forward in its management portfolio, including LEED® and BOMA BESt guidelines, have been officially recognized. On November 10th, two Montreal office properties, 999 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West (Level 1 certification) and 8000 Décarie Blvd. (Level 2 certification), were granted BOMA BESt certifications, and on October 18th, the Centre de distribution Montréal-Akzo Nobel in St. Hubert earned its Silver LEED Canada-NC 1.0 certification.
999 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West, an 18-storey tower, is located in the heart of Montreal's business district, at the corner of Metcalfe St., one of the city's busiest intersections. The building is equipped with ultra-modern, high-performance facilities, be it telecommunications, air conditioning, vertical transportation or security, and features a state of the art conference centre and fitness centre. 8000 Décarie Blvd. is a 6-storey property located in the Côte-des-Neiges borough, at the corner of Ferrier St. The Centre de distribution Montréal-Akzo Nobel is an industrial property built in 2008 and located near the St. Hubert airport.
Another sustainable project in which Redcliff Métivier is closely involved, the Maison du développement durable, is aiming for the highest level of LEED certification, LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Platinum. Construction in Montreal's Quartier des spectacles is progressing smoothly and the first tenants are expected to occupy the premises in the summer of 2011.
As sustainable development gains recognition, green building efforts are becoming more mainstream. Today's businesses are increasingly aware of the importance of environmentally friendly policies and Redcliff Métivier has been a leader in environmental programs for the properties we manage. Our programs include environmentally focused procurement and waste-reduction initiatives, energy efficiency programs, and building green. These efforts are exactly in line with recognized certification programs such as LEED and BOMA BESt.
LEED® or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is an internationally recognized green building rating system. LEED® certification distinguishes building projects that have demonstrated high standards in energy efficiency and environmental practices. BOMA BESt (Building Environmental Standards) is a national program launched in 2005 by BOMA Canada to address an industry need for realistic standards for energy and environmental performance of existing buildings based on accurate, independently verified information.
