Sustainable Energy Sector Recognizes Champions and Celebrates Success
Fifth annual Powering Prosperity Awards showcase Ontario's sustainable energy champions.
VAUGHAN, ON, Feb. 3, 2015 /CNW/ - More than 300 sustainable energy leaders braved blowing snow and freezing temperatures last Thursday to shine the spotlight on the sector's champions during the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association's annual Powering Prosperity Awards dinner.
CISCO's Dr. Rick Huijbregts, a visionary in the area of innovation and smart communities delivered a rousing keynote connecting the dots between the "Internet of Everything" and a smart, distributed and resilient sustainable energy system.
Eight awards categories were recognized spanning the full breadth of community, aboriginal, public and private sector sustainable energy solutions that are powering, heating, cooling and moving Ontario's prosperity. This year's winners were as follows:

Sustainable Project of the Year (two winners)
- The deep retrofits for industrial, commercial and institutional buildings and district energy initiative using Local Improvement Charges (the LIC initiative)
- Park Property Management Inc.
The Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) is championing a prosperous Ontario with a thriving sustainable energy sector, good jobs, resilient communities and healthy environments powered, heated, cooled and moved by portfolios of sustainable energy by raising public awareness, advising decision makers and establishing forums for new market opportunities and collaboration.
