Swoop prepares for first flight with the launch of their mobile app
CALGARY, June 13, 2018 /CNW/ - Today Swoop has launched their mobile app in preparation for first flights, taking off June 20, 2018. With a mission to make travel easy, affordable and accessible for Canadians, offering travellers the convenience of a mobile app was a must-have for Canada's first true ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC). The app is available for iOS 10 or newer, and Android 5 or newer, and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
"We live in an increasingly digital world, so providing our travellers with a mobile app to make the travel experience more convenient was paramount for Swoop," said Steven Greenway, President and Chief Executive Officer of Swoop. "The app also allows us to offer inflight entertainment and WiFi connectivity through Swoop Stream, and that's a key differentiator for a ULCC."
The initial version of the app hosts a suite of functional features to make the Swoop travel experience seamless. Travellers can expect to see regular app updates as new functions and features are released.
In addition to being able to access for-purchase WiFi and entertainment amenities, the Swoop app allows travellers to quickly and easily book flights, manage bookings, check-in, view boarding passes, and track flights.
The "my trips" feature of the app gives users important information about upcoming trips. With the tap of a finger, users can view their itinerary, manage their flight or retrieve their boarding pass.
The "mobile check-in" feature saves travellers time at the airport, by avoiding lines and checking-in virtually. This option allows travellers to check-in up to 24 hours prior to the departure time. It gives the option to view and download an electronic boarding pass as well as a last chance to choose flight options, before arrival at the airport.
The "flight tracker" feature gives real-time updates on any Swoop flight. Users can check on flight status to see if a flight is on time, early, delayed or cancelled.
The "Swoop Stream" feature connects travellers to for-purchase inflight entertainment amenities including the latest movies and television shows streaming on Swoop flights. That means access to hundreds of hours of streaming content. WiFi connectivity is also available onboard and can also be purchased through Swoop Stream.
